Dania Beach was incorporated in 1904 as the first city in Broward County. It sits just south of Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, Port Everglades and the Broward County Convention Center.
The city's financial report calls it a significant force in South Florida's academic, maritime and tourism industries, with maritime training simulators, yacht yards and marinas, Bass Pro Shops and a casino. The city's 2024 water quality report says it serves about 30,000 residents from the Biscayne Aquifer. It owns two wells on the eastern edge of the aquifer and also purchases water from the Broward County Regional Wellfield at Brian Piccolo Park; in 2024 it used both.
Treatment is lime softening, filtering and disinfection. Since November 2011 a two-million-gallon nanofiltration plant has supplemented the three-million-gallon lime softening plant, and the two are blended at roughly 50/50 before the water enters the pipes. The disinfectant is chlorine, at 2.91 ppm as the 2024 running annual average against a limit of 4.0. The city's water treatment plant lists (954) 924-3747.
